CONVERSION OF A HISTORICAL BUILDING INTO A BEACON FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Monolit is one of the historical monuments in Baku. Currently, the Monolit is in need of renovation and upgrading due to lack of sufficient maintenance and inflexible floor plans for the contemporary program. This project aims at creating a new cultural and commercial point of gravity for Baku by the renovation of the original Monolit and extension on the adjacent plot.
The original Monolit will contain a public accessible courtyard garden, a roof garden and renovated apartments that provide new standards of living in Baku. The extension contains a mix of recreational, leisure and shopping programs with a generous underground parking. The hotel is for both international and domestic visitors, and the roof top terrace promises a great panoramic view of the city of Baku.
