Lab-Plant

A CHAMBER OF “RECYCLE”

On the remnants of once the largest power plant in the Netherlands stretches a 150m foundation pit awaiting for future development. Adjacent, platform SuGu, is working on future circular economy instead of fossil driven into bio-based sources. In the vast changing Merwe harbour of Rotterdam enormous remnants are dominating the industrial landscape. To meet this scale MASA illustrated the accommodation of the new circular economy by sustainable ingredients: recycled ship containers, bamboo and bio-plasticы. A flexible/collapsible barrel vault structure spans the existing foundations. The joints are made of bio-plastic. The combination of bamboo and robot printing makes it efficient to integrate nozzles for water, led light: serving the laboratorian program.
